» Expierence with film

I just bought a fill SLR and have been overwhelmed with the varieties of film out there. I'm sure a lot of film choice is preference and/or experience, however are there any films or brands to stay away from? or that are very nice? What's your take?My personal favorites.... Velvia for landscapes Provia for macro and still lifes Portra VC for portraitsOh, and for black and white. General use I bring out the Ilford HP5 and for fine grained, high contrast I use PANF.I have found and alot of others would agree that Fuji seems to lead the pack these days......and is the film of my choiceWhat about non-professional film? Which one will give a decent quality except fuji superia...I have found and alot of others would agree that Fuji seems ...... - 2009-07-03

MY wife and i have been married for only a year and a half and i have not had much experience as a parent and she has not had much experience of being a parent without the help of her parents because we got married while she was a single mom. now peop;e arwe accusing us right and left of being bad parents and i was wondering what the most mature, and dignified response to such accusations is..there is such thing a righteous indignation though (WRATH) at such a remark.Do they actually come right out and say "you're bad parents", or do you just feel that they disapprove? » Snowboard waxing how often ?

heyy how often should i wax and edge my snowboard Depends on how often you ride and the conditions, Give a day for powder and take a day off for icey conditions. Good rule is if you go 3 or 4 times a week to wax once a week or just simply look for dry white stripes appearing on the bottom of the board. That's a good time to wax the board. Edges also depends on what you ride, If you're hitting the park a lot and doing a lot of jibbing then it would be wise to possibly check the edges for burs after each day riding and simply give it a good rub down with a diamond stone and gummy stone if you feel a lot of burs.every other time you scrap the bottom...wax a littleDepends on conditions and how often you ride. I'm sick of salads... but unfortunately I cannot have my normal turkey or tuna sandwiches that I used to eat all the time before I became pregnant. I'm out of ideas for what I can have for a healthy lunch. Any suggestions?Hi you can have Tuna they say only 3 small cans a week and turkey is fine as well. What you can and can't eat when pregnant does seem confusing to start with but if you follow a few simple rules it should become clear. â ¢ Cheese - soft mould-ripened or blue cheese should be avoided, i.e. cheese that has a blue vein in it or the type of skin or crust that is found on cheese such as Brie or Camembert. The High Court ruled that Leicester must go under administration today. The club was negotiating an 11th-hour deal with its creditors but in the end there was nothing they can do. Because of their comments, they seem like they are more religiously fanatics to atheism, than we are into our religions. That's way they spend so much time in religion and spirituality section on YA! thanks and God bless us all!Atheism technically is a religion. It is a belief system adhered to despite the fact there is no proof, and accepted by faith.Definition: A religion is a of way of life based on tenets (or a belief system) about the ultimate power. It is generally expressed through conducts such as prayers, rituals, or other practices, often centered upon specific supernatural and moral claims about reality (the cosmos, and human nature) which may yield a set of religious laws. » Audi A4 smoking problems?

I was driving an audi a4 2.8l 2000, and when i stopped and turned the car off i noticed the right front engine area was smokin considerably. The smell was burnt oil. I hear common master cylinder, wheel bearing, and gasket problems with these cars. Could this be a sign of it?Probably a combination of your Valve Cover Gaskets and Camshaft Adjuster Seals leaking. Very common problem. The Valve Cover Gaskets will leak down onto the exhaust manifold, burning the oil instantly when it comes in contact after its warmed up. Will usually notice it more after a medium to longer drive cycle.Check your oil, if its milky, you have a head gasket problem. Not a big problem, just get it fixed!!!...... - 2009-07-03

» Whats the difference and simmilarities between the architecture of Gothic and the Renaissance.?

Gothic architecture is a style of architecture which flourished during the high and late medieval period. It evolved from Romanesque architecture and was succeeded by Renaissance architecture. Gothic and Renaissance really have very few similarities when you look at it. Mostly, we see that Renaissance architecture was flimsy, non-artistic, and often made of straw, where as with gothic architecture, nearly every building had columns and engravings. A similarity, however, is found in the way that each time frame built their castles. Both are elaborate designs with lots of stone. Stone is also a general similarity between the two. "That's a terrible airline. Their planes are old, their flight attendants are ugly, and they're always late. So, where are you staying in Rome?" I am considering a new tripod. I will be using it for some hiking, some nightime long exposure stuff and occasionally for indoor portraits or still life. I have a "video" tripod now that although very stable is also pretty heavy when your packing it through the woods all day so I want to get something that will fit my needs a little better. » Which ISO speed

HI all. Just a question regarding ISO speed and action photography. If its bright and sunny and im shooting some sports photography what ISO would I pref use? Shooting on a 20D ? Using burst mode (5 frames a second) ? I shot the last ones on ISO 200. Could I use ISO 100 for those? Being bright and sunny ect? :greenpbl:As long as you have enough light to get the shutter speed you need with the aperture you've chosen there is no reason why not. In bright sun a good exposure for ISO 100 at f/8 is going to be around 1/400th to 1/800th of a second. I can't even tell the difference between ISO 100 and 200 on the 20D. Do you still celebrate Christmas, and if so, why? As a Buddhist, I don't particularly mind Christmas as an idea, but I cannot condone the greed encouraged in children, the absolute madness with which our culture seems to approach this time of year. It was hardly November 1st before I saw Christmas decorations being sold in Wal-Mart, and I heard that an employee at a Wal-Mart was also trampled to death in a Black Friday Christmas shopping rush. In my opinion, though the tree of light is very pretty and very comforting thing to look upon and think about, the holiday itself is a great disservice we do to children (and to parents). I know this question comes up a lot, but I was wondering if I could get some suggestions on a lens purchase. I am mostly going to be doing photo shoots of cars, any suggestions would greatly be appreciated! :mrgreen:Lens selection is not really difficult. You have to factor in what you like to shoot, and how you want to shoot it. What kinds of compositions do you have in mind? If you can pre-visualize the type of shots you want to take, and you have a basic understanding of focal lengths, the decision becomes only a matter of reading a few reviews of different lenses and picking the best match of price vs performance. Nobody can tell you what is the best lens for you, because ultimately only you know what you want from your photography...... - 2009-07-03

I was wondering since my room is a very light blue almost white if the pink trim would match. heres the bedspread: http://www.target.com/xhilaration-Scroll... i was wondering if anyone can find one that has the same design but no pink or if you think the pink will look okay with the room color. Also around the same price. Thanks everyone!I think the pink shown in the picture is sheets. If you look at how the comforter is turned down you can see that the pink isn't part of it. It's just black and white as far as I can tell. You can use light blue sheets with it and it will look great in your room. Read the description to be sure but I think it's just blac...... - 2009-07-03

» Who is "Bella's Lullaby" written by?

I'm very confused. Is it by Yiruma, Robert Pattinson or Carter Burwell? Thank you! :)Robert Pattinson sings a song for themovie. The song is entitled "Never Think". Here's a link:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xU4XpWzqy... Yiruma composed this piano piece (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hleO9eT0... entitled "River Flows in You", but they didn't use it in the movie. The official bella's lullaby used in the movie is by Carter Burwell. This: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oPAyjPzeI... It's confusing, I know. Personally I liked Yiruma's version. » Do you like tattoos on women?

No. I like my girl to look cute, feminine, sexy...and she does. Tattoos are masculine and, for the most part, had by less attractive women.Generally I don't mind, and on some girls it makes them (to me) more attractive. It does depend though how many she has and where also what they are off. There are even girls with full sleeve that look amazing with them... Its all pretty subjective though, you'll find some guys are totally against them, other's don't care, and some really do like them........ - 2009-07-03

» Is this a good diet/routine ?

last week, i weighed 175lbs, now i weigh 168lbs. all i did was cut my food intake by nearly half or until i was not really hunger. i always had a problem with overeating and this week, i really cut back. i drank only water and v8 and every lunch, i had a small bowl of green peppers only. for exercise, i only did 100-200 crunches and 50-200 pushups a day. i didnt do any running due to a toe injury. but yeah, is this a healthy diet/routine? thanks. You're eating way too less. This is not a healthy diet. You need more grains, protien and fruits and vegetables. You will gain all the weight back as soon as you stop this routine. I advise you to look at other alternatives. This is a terrible diet and heres why.....if you have not noticed...... - 2009-07-03

» Speaker Recommendations?

So, I'm looking for a set of speakers for my room (i'm a student) and looking to spend about $400 on the speakers. I don't know much about all of this stuff, I just know that I'm looking for some thing that has really clear sound and a decent amount of bass. I've talked to a few people but I figured here would be a good place to look for help. Also recommendations for receiver and sound card (since i'll be running it off my laptop) would be greatly appreciated! For that price range, any HTIB (Home Theater In a Box) system would work perfectly for you. HTIBs are complete solutions in one big box...five speakers, amp, wire. All you would need to get it a 3.5mm to RCA cable to hook it up to your laptop. The H...... - 2009-07-03

In connection to a thread I started in the equipment section, I recently placed an order for a Canon EOS Elan 7NE. In another thread I read a blurb about pop up flash units being less than spectacular, so...... ......If I want to take respectable pictures with a flash, should I be using the Hot Shoe contact and a dedicated flash unit? I have an old Sunpack that I bought years ago for my Pentax. The recharge time stinks (though it could just be the batteries I used), as stated it is old, but it was lightly used. Also, since the dedicated flash unit would ride higher on the camera body, would there be a noticble reduction in red eye? The Sunpack unit is adjustable for 90, 60 and 45 degrees (I believe thats the angles.) Any comments? ...... - 2009-07-03

» Riddle: Which door leads to freedom?

This is one of the most famous logic puzzles in history. Here it is: You are trapped in a room. There are two doors, one red, one blue. One leads to freedom, the other leads to a room full of worms that you will have to eat. There are two guards, one guarding the red door, the other guarding the blue. One always lies, and the other is always honest. You don't know which is the honest one and the liar. You can ask ONE of the guards ONE question, to get a hint. What will you ask?which room is the room of freedom? The one question is: You ask either guard..."which door will the other guy say is the door that leads to freedom?" Please use this thread to discuss the Project Tools beta test program announced here (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=225267).First reply. :D It's very weird. I like some new functions there. :)Looking spiffy. I like the Project Tools, I will defenately use that. I would suggest however chaning those version links to maybe a drop down, seeing as how a product version can get very large. However I know it's still in development, however I will eagerly await the release of this product.Quite impressive. Will wait to see how designers will come with innovative styles for it. » lighting question...What to buy to start out?

Do any of you have any suggestions as to what type of lighting elements to purchase for still life setups? I want to start taking more of these type of photographs. I have a book I just received on lighting techniques and special effects, but each demonstration looks like its using about $10,000 in lighting, not to mention a studio set-up. I just want something that can be interchanged and multipurpose. Maybe this is a dumb question, I'm not sure.I just bought a soft box (stand, bulb included) for $225. Seems like a great place to start. That and a couple of flags and reflector boards (car window shades) would take you pretty far.Cool, thanks Shane. I'll do some research on some softboxes. » Film temperature question...

I recently got some proper professional portraiture film (Fuji NPS 160) that has to be kept in the fridge. This is very unfamiliar territory for me, whats the deal with the fridge? If I load the film can I leave it in the camera for a few days between shots or is it best to take all the shots on one day? Also once the film is used do I have to stash it back in the fridge before I get chance to take it to be developed? Some tips or pointers would be useful... Thanks.I wouldn't worry if the film isn't going to be in the camera for an extended period of time. Refrigeration keeps the colors consistant for longer periods of time. Film tends to have a color shift over time and the idea with pro film is to keep it consistant. A lot o...... - 2009-07-03

» NWS Doppler radar detecting vehicle traffic

My work assistant sent me an article about NWS radar in Romeoville, IL detecting vehicle traffic - including some possible speeders. I've heard about doppler picking up bird migration, but this is the first I've heard about picking up vehicles. "The doppler radar typically measures the motions of rain and water droplets toward and away from the radar, just like how a police officer's radar can pick up on a car's speed. But when a low level inversion (a layer of warmer air up above the surface) develops, it can cause the beam to be re-directed toward the ground and pick up on dense objects like buildings or traffic on highways. In this instance, the radar was able to pick up on traffic across Livingston County along I-55 as well as Iroquoi...... - 2009-07-03
